Goals / Remit
The Global Disinformation Index is a not-for-profit organisation that operates on the three principles of neutrality, independence and transparency. Our vision is a world free from disinformation and its harms. Our mission is to catalyse industry and government to defund disinformation. We provide disinformation risk ratings of the world’s news media sites.
Main EU files targeted
The Global Disinformation Index is tracking and supporting EU commitments to combat disinformation as outlined in the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation and the Digital Services Act. GDI is also working on tackling foreign disinformation, information manipulation and interference and on strengthening its strategic communication at a global policy level. In 2024 we will be focusing our work on the following areas:
Digital Services act relating to transparency obligations for online platforms in respect of online advertising
Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference
Defence of Democracy Package
Code of Practice on Disinformation
We have developed risk ratings of disinformation sites and mapped existing ad tech company policies on disinformation and related content policy (and examples of infringements) and believe this information will be a useful for policy makers as they consider necessary measures as part of the DSA, and Code of Practice on Disinformation.Address

Communication activities
Participation in events and stakeholder workshops on disinformation. Publishing studies and investigations on disinformation, esp. in social media. As a data-driven organisation, research lies at the core of everything we do. We assess disinformation risk across the open web, study media markets around the world, catalogue brand safety incidents, measure advertising spend, identify policy interventions and more.

Meetings
Meetings
3 meetings found. Download meetings
The list below covers meetings with Commissioners/Cabinet members/Directors-general (high-level) Commission meetings published December 2014 to December 2024, and the meetings of Commissioners/Cabinet members/Directors-general and officials holding "management functions" in the Commission published since 1 January 2025. Other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may well have taken place, but the Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. All information below comes from the Commission and not from the registrant.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
