    EU Transparency Register

    579945334611-71 First registered on 06 May 2019

    Goals / Remit

FEDARENE was created on 8th June 1990 by 6 regional authorities – Rhône-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, Wallonie, País Vasco, Aquitaine and Nord-Pas-de-Calais. Encouraged by different programmes of the European Commission, these authorities wanted to make the voice of the regions heard in the debate on energy and environment policies at the European level. The Brussels office opened its doors in November 1991.Our European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment now counts over 80 members, thus representing regions from 21 European countries and drawing on the advice of 800 experts throughout the European Union.

It is now a crossroads for a wide array of agencies which are not only the driving force behind the development of the network, but also play an essential role in policy making. They act as producers of ideas on the regional, national, European and international levels, and as implementers of decisions emanating from these levels.

    Communication activities

FEDARENE organises multiple events promoting and discussing the results of its projects and the ones of its members. The FEDARENE website https://fedarene.org/ provides an accurate overview of all the communications activities related to the EU policies FEDARENE focuses on. The policy section https://fedarene.org/policy/ provides an overview of the advocacy campaigns led by FEDARENE.

FEDARENE is also part of the consortiums leading the European Commission's initiatives Covenant of Mayors, European City Facility, European Repository on Energy Communities and ManagEnergy.

The Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy was launched in 2008. The initiative is currently managed by a consortium of networks of local and regional authorities, led by Energy Cities and Climate Alliance, and composed of CEMR, EUROCITIES FEDARENE, and ICLEI Europe. The EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy brings together thousands of local governments voluntarily committed to implementing EU climate and energy objectives.

The EU Energy Communities Repository pursues 2 key objectives: act as a European advisory and information hub monitoring the legal, regulatory and policy framework relevant to energy communities across Member States in light of the related provisions of the Clean Energy package and collecting data on energy communities’ development in the EU; provide guidance regarding the set-up of energy communities and disseminating best practices from energy communities across Europe.

ManagEnergy is a European Commission initiative dedicated to regional and local energy agencies with the objectives of assisting them in becoming leaders in the energy transition and of increasing sustainable energy investments in regions and cities.

Set up under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union, the European City Facility will unlock this local potential and support municipalities, local authorities, their groupings and local public entities aggregating municipalities/local authorities in Europe with tailor-made, fast and simplified financial support (in the form of EUR 60,000 lump sums) and related services to enable them to develop relevant investment concepts related to the implementation of actions identified in their climate and energy action plans.

    Meetings

    6 meetings found. Download meetings

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
