We strive to “Strengthen local and regional Europe since 1951, while promoting a more inclusive and sustainable future for all citizens and future generations”. This is our mission as set out in our multi-annual strategy, up to 2030.
CEMR’s main objective for 2024 is to ensure a green territorial transition and to build inclusive societies through participatory democracy. The current context is obviously complex, with the multiplication of climatic events, the widening of territorial and social inequalities, and armed conflicts in Ukraine and in the Middle East. Once again, with the Russian war on Ukraine, local and regional governments have demonstrated their undoubted strengths and frontline action in dealing with the consequences of the crisis, welcoming the sudden flow of refugees into their territories, mainly women and children, and managing the resulting social, environmental, and economic consequences often in coordination with national governments. Our shared values of local democracy and autonomy, equality, cooperation, and sustainability remain at the heart of our efforts to reduce the impact of the multiplicity of crises and war conflicts. Despite this context, we must not lose sight of our sustainability agenda and continue to strive for sustainability in our European territories. To this end, we want to help our members to become inclusive and sustainable territories, in cooperation. We want them to have more capacity to monitor, evaluate and influence international, EU, national policies that will affect the making and implementation of policies that are suitable to create liveable environments for and with the residents.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
