Goals / Remit
Gas Networks Ireland (GNI) is the owner and operator of the Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Systems in Ireland.
GNI is certified as a Full Ownership Unbundled Transmission System Operator (TSO) in accordance with EU Directive 2009/73/EC and Regulation (EC) 715/2009.
GNI has a subsidiary company, GNI(UK) LTd. which is a similarly certified TSO, which owns and/or operates certain Natural Gas Transmission assets in Northern Ireland and Scotland.
GNI is involved in the promotion of Natural Gas for industrial, commercial and domestic purposes as well as advocating for its use as a transport fuel. GNI is further involved in facilitating the injection of biogas/biomethane into the Natural Gas grid.Main EU files targeted
