Goals / Remit

Transport & Environment's (T&E) vision is a zero-emission mobility system that is affordable and has minimal impacts on our health, climate and environment. We do so via influencing EU and global policies regulating transport activities. We believe transport policy should minimise harmful impacts on the environment and health, maximise efficiency of resources, including energy and land, and guarantee the safety and sufficient access for all. Established in 1990, T&E represents 63 organisations from 26 countries across Europe, mostly environmental groups and campaigners working for sustainable transport policies at national, regional and local level. All together our members and supporters represent more than 3.5 million people. Our national work is further supported by our network of five national offices: Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, and the UK, and soon in France.

Issues

To ensure the full implementation of current CO2 standards for light-and-heavy-duty-vehicles in 2021-2025; increase ambition of the 2030 standards and secure a pathway to 100% zero emission vehicle sales. To maintain and increase Low and Zero Emission Zones in dozens of cities across Europe to phase out diesel and ICE use in cities. End the use of crop based biofuels across Europe, limit biofuels contribution to green energy targets EU to phase out the use of biofuels with high ILUC risk (palm oil). Ensuring both shipping and aviation contribute to the ETS.To redirect public and private capital towards zero emission transport.
