Goals / Remit
The ABC Global Alliance established in 2016 as an initiative of the European School of Oncology and now registered as a non-profit association in Portugal, is a multi-stakeholder platform for all those interested in collaborating on common projects relating to advanced breast cancer with the aim to improve and extend the lives of women and men living with advanced breast cancer in all countries worldwide and to fight for a cure.
Our goal is also to raise awareness of advanced breast cancer and lobby worldwide for the improvement of the lives of advanced breast cancer patients.Main EU files targeted
Being one of the major stakeholders on advanced breast cancer we are interested in providing our support on the Europe's Beating Cancer Plan. In this frame we ha a preliminary meeting with the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety on 5 February 2020 to offer our support. We are attending webinars and meeting on the Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and are are registered on the EU Health Policy Platform Agora Network (including the thematic group “Quality of Life” of the Stakeholder Contact Group on the Europe's Beating Cancer Plan).
To reinforce the spirit of collaboration and support to the initiative the EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety gave an opening lecture at our Advanced Breast Cancer Sixth International Consensus Conference last November addressing an inspiting lecture on "Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and advanced cancer patients". She endorsed the fortcoming Advanced Breast Cancer Seventh International Consensus Conference that will take place in November as hybrid event (Lisbon and online) and she will be sending a video message that will be included in the opening ceremony. One of the Special Adviser to the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety on cancer policy will be one of the Honorary Chaors at our conference.
We are members of an initiative called Transforming Breast Cancer Together. launched in 2017, that brings together policymakers, patient organisations, professional organisations and companies committed to raising awareness of the daily realities of living with breast cancer. In the frame of this collaboration we recently had a meeting with the Cabinet of the Commissioner and DG Sante to evaluate how to support the implementation of the plan.Address
