    Goals / Remit

    1. The Association is one of the 7 EUREKA Clusters, and is operating according to the rules of the EUREKA organisation in line with the directives of the EUREKA Members (actually 40 States)
    2. The object of the Association is to promote research and development (‘R&D’) and innovation in the field of nanoelectronics in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the European industry.
    3. The Association is committed to achieve this objective by:
    a. Defining and updating an European R&D program framework (the CATRENE Whitebook) in the domain of Nanoelectronic
    b. Aligning with National Public Authorities views this R&D program framework
    c. Managing Calls for project proposals
    d. Selecting proposals taking into account the following main criteria :
    • Commitment to CATRENE vision and objectives
    • Innovation in basic and industrial research
    • Existing European R&D capacity
    • Competences of the partners
    • Strengths of the consortium ("team effect")
    • World market potential
    • Leverage effect on employment
    • Meeting societal needs
    e. Sharing with Public Authorities the selection in order to optimise funding by the Public Authorities
    f. Monitoring the progress of the selected projects and managing the impacts of any evolution a project may face
    4. The CATRENE Association is the evolution of the successful JESSI , MEDEA and MEDEA+ programs, leading to the continuous support by the Public Authorities, and resulting with around 2000 persons working each year in CATRENE projects
    5. The Association monitor the changing landscape and adapt his process and domain of operation accordingly
    6. The Association is also in regular contact with the other funding programmes related to Nanoelectronic (ENIAC, FP7…), in order that global efficiency be managed between these programmes for the benefit of the European Nanoelectronic industry.
