Goals / Remit
NBIC ETHICS, a branch of NBIC WATCH, aims at fostering laws and culture respectful of human dignity and human rights as well as the advent of a technological humanism. Nano-, Bio-, Information and Cognitive technologies like DNA Editing and Robotics/AI can cause moral dilemna that need to be addressed at a meta-ethical level, before we even define norms, deontology or computational ethics. The European institutions have been tackling this daunting task since the adoption of GDPR and the AI ethical guidelines, DSA, DMA. Now is the turn of AI ACT, Data Act, European Health Data space and European Digital Identity framework. NBIC Ethics seeks to help the emergence of a technical and legal framework for the digitalization of Europe with absolute respect for the very essence of the human being.
