The Japan Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA)
EU Transparency Register
857375848714-69 First registered on 23 Jan 2023
Goals / Remit
The Japan Refrigeration and Air conditioning Industry Association (JRAIA) and its member companies represent the interests of producers and developers of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment. The products have in common that they rely on refrigerants to transfer heat and cold. They play an essential role in food preservation, retail, quality of life and work, and in enabling sometimes difficult industrial and digital processes under controlled circumstances.
JRAIA and members have been present and active in Europe for several decades. We are committed to the Single Market, and to a fully sustainable future. That is why we have pro-actively and constructively contributed to phasing down use of refrigerants with a high global warming potential, and continue to do so. We are investing significant and increasing resources into low-GWP alternatives.Main EU files targeted
JRAIA was previously registered in the EU Transparency Register (50134607288-38) from 2011 to 2022 and contributed as a Type C member for X03338 Consultation Forum according to Art.23 of Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 on fluorinated greenhouse gases.
JRAIA aims to promote and improve production, distribution and utilization of refrigeration, air conditioners and heat pumps and their applied products, as well as auxiliary devices and components, automatic controls and accessories, and thereby contribute globally to the steady development of RACHP industry and improvement in people's quality of life.
Europe takes leading role of environment regulations in the world, so air conditioners are also in the scope of such advanced environmental regulations. In order to get timely regulatory information of the EU and supply sufficient technical information of Japan.Address

Two staffs of JRAIA are working mainly for European regulations. One staff is working partially. There are several committees or working groups in JRAIA dealing with European regulation.
Steering Committee
European AC regulatioin committee
F-gas WG
ENER Lot 10 Revision WG
ENER Lot 1&2 Revisioin WG
ENER Lot 21 WG
ENER Lot 33 WG
CEN/TC113 WG
Steering Committee meets 2 times a year for 2 hours each, but other committees and WGs meet basically every 2-3 months for 4 hours each. Around 10 members are in a committee or WG. This gives 2 times x 2 hours x 10 members + 6 times x 10 members x 7 groups x 4 hours = 1720 man hour.
Travelling for meetings and the home work time probably double this. So, additionally one person equivalent is working for this issue.Person in charge of EU relations

JBCE : Most of major JRAIA member companies in Europe are member of JBCE. JBCE has air conditioning WG to discuss issues relate to the product. JRAIA representatives attend such meetings.
ICARHMA : ICARHMA is a council of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating industry associations of countries in the world. The secretary is AHRI of the US. JRAIA is one of key members. Current members are AHRI(US), HRAI(Canada), EUROVENT and EPEE(Europe), ACAIRE(Colombia), ABRAVA(Brazil), RAMA(India), CRAA(China), KRAIA(South Korea), AREMA(Australia) and JRAIA.
EUROVENT : Some of JRAIA member companies are also member of EUROVENT. As EUROVENT is the counter part of JRAIA in the EU, so mutual collaborating relationship is provided in some extent.Member organisations
