    Goals / Remit

The Network of European Financial Institutions for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises was founded in 1999. Members are 20 national promotional financial institutions from different EU Member States.

NEFI pursues the objective of following the financial, political and legal developments in the field of European economic and financial policy and all measures adopted by the EU institutions which are relevant for promotional financial institutions focused on the facilitation of SMEs' access to finance. NEFI serves as a contact for the European Institutions providing know-how and information on all promotional banking issues.

Ultimately, NEFI assembles the common specific interests of its members, which result from their particular legal status and function as public financial institutions, and represents them vis-à-vis the European Union, the press and the general public.

    Main EU files targeted

All matters related to SME policy, in particular access to finance for SMEs, European Financial Services Industry and EU promotional and regional policies.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
