The International Press Institute (IPI) is a global network of editors, journalists and media executives who share a common dedication to quality, independent journalism. Together, we promote the conditions that allow journalism to fulfill its public function, the most important of which is the media’s ability to operate free from interference and without fear of retaliation.

IPI is supportive of establishing a parliamentary intergroup for the media.
Communication activities
IPI manages press freedom programmes in the EU and beyond with grants from a range of donors including the EU. IPI produces regular reports on the state of press freedom, organises international missions to countries in crisis and journalist delegations to the EU to advocate for improved policy.

IPI will follow the work of DROI, the Foreign Affairs sub committee on Human Rights; LIBE, the civil liberties Justice and Home Affairs, and relevant parliamentary delegations such as the D-TR, the EU-Turkey joint parliamentary committee
