ICAEW operates under a Royal Charter, working in the public interest. Its regulation of its members, in particular its responsibilities in respect of auditors, is overseen by the UK Financial Reporting Council. The estimate provided (as a range) is the amount spent by ICAEW to maintain its Europe Region Office, excluding costs related to our broader continental European operations which are also dealt with from our Europe Region Office. For the sake of simplicity, the range provided includes the operational costs (including office rental), some travel and related staff costs.
We do not refer to our public interest representation activities as "direct lobbying", notwithstanding the categorisation of such activities by the European Commission.
We appled the 2014 average exchange rate of £1 = € 1.24064 to the figures. -
