Goals / Remit
The aims of the Federation are the following;
a. to develop and establish a common policy on questions relating to the production and the commercialisation of aquaculture species that are reared commercially.
b. to make known to the appropriate authorities the common policies envisaged above.
c. to promote the development of skills and knowledge within European aquacultureMain EU files targeted

FEAP is a member of the Aquaculture Advisory Council and the Markets Advisory Council. It also participates in other EC Committees, notably concerning animal health, welfare and environmental issues.
FEAP is a a member of the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform (EATIP), for whom the FEAP Secretariat provides support facilities - see www.eatip.eu
It is a member of AquaTnet (primarily a specialised research/training network).
FEAP also participates - through official liaison status - in the Aquaculture Committee of the General Fisheries Council of the Mediterranean and the sub-Committee on Aquaculture of the Committee on Fisheries of the FAO. see www.fao.org
FEAP also has a Memorandum of cooperation with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, relating to proposals/Actions for assuring the sustainable development of aquaculture.Member organisations

FEAP's finances are assured principally by Membership Fees paid by National Aquaculture Associations.
The FEAP received a subsidy for assuring the preparation and attendance of representative aquaculture associations for treating items and issues raised for the Advisory Committee on Fisheries and Aquaculture (ACFA) of which it is a member. This subsidy covers the travel (real) and subsistence (forfeit)of participants in these meetings.
Additional finance is obtained on an irregular basis through participation in RTD or development projects that serve to support or develop European fish farming. -

The core subject matter of the activities of the FEAP in this respect are to provide responses to information requests or to present consolidated opinions on matters affecting the professional fish farming sector to interested bodies at European level (e.g. Aquaculture Advisory Council, Markets Advisory Council, the Fisheries Committee of the European Parliament). FEAP is a member of the Aquaculture Advisory Council and the Markets Advisory Council.
FEAP has participated in official consultation efforts concerning the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy and related instruments, including the Common Organisation of the Markets for Fisheries and Aquaculture Products and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
The FEAP has also participated in European RTDi Framework projects, principally support and coordination actions, where the FEAP guarantees dissemination and communication actions targeting the profession and public society.- Meetings
