    Goals / Remit

JADE - European Confederation of Junior Enterprises, is a non-profit, non-governmental umbrella organisation, which represents a network of 28.000+ students from 15 different countries in Europe. Students in our network, consolidate their knowledge working in non-profit, student-run organisations, also known as Junior Enterprises (JE), providing services to local, regional and national companies of all sizes. Working first-hand on projects, allows students to obtain a greater exposure to the business world promoting a thorough understanding of the labour market while enhancing the development of key competencies, increasing their employability and supporting the development of the local, regional and national economy. Additionally, through knowledge exchange, students can share opinions and gather new contact while developing their personal, social, civil skills as well as reducing the risks of being socially excluded.

Junior Enterprises are oriented through 5 main goals: To promote the learning by doing philosophy; To encourage a business education approach; To develop entrepreneurial skills; To enhance students’ employability; To foster social and economic growth. The impact of Junior Enterprises is on 3 levels: Academia, Business world and Society.
Our common purpose as a Network, ‘’To empower, through the Junior Enterprise concept, students capable and committed to generate a relevant impact’’, makes us share 4 strong convictions that guide all our actions: Together we grow, Entrepreneurial Mindset, Meaningful Results, Driven Attitude. Our vision for 2021, ‘’We are 500 Junior Enterprises, working together, delivering 5750 added value projects, of which 300 in collaboration’’, is structured on three main priorities: development, integration and recognition.

Enlargement is one of our main focuses. JADE invests resources to spread the concept across other countries with the final aim of involving as many students as possible.
In terms of representation, JADE is an active contributor in a variety of expert groups such as the SME Envoy and the HEInnovate project for DG EAC, and previously in Pact4Youth, where we bring the needs of today’s students to the discussions of policy issues affecting young people in Europe. We collaborate with European Policy Centre, Think Young along with private and civil societies such as EUROCHAMBRES and BusinessEurope. JADE was also consulted for the creation of the ENTRECOMP framework.

For supporting and developing the network, JADE has two main projects: the Confederation Development Program (CDP) and the Common European Audit Grid (CEAG), that enhance the quality of youth work at a local, regional and national level.
JADE hosts four multicultural conferences in four different cities in Europe, creating opportunities for students to network between each other, exchange best practices and learn in a non-formal environment. JADE also hosts Generations Club, an event that provides the environment where policy makers, institutions and companies can talk to other student NGOs about up-to-date European issues, fostering the empowerment of young people in society by promoting the cooperation between youth workers and policy makers.

    Communication activities

To integrate the network JADE hosts four multicultural conferences in four different cities in Europe, counting around 1’000 participants and more than 20 companies attending yearly. These events create opportunities for students to network between each other, exchange best practices and learn in a non-formal environment. Additionally, companies have the space to deliver a variety of workshops and recruit students, allowing the latter to put their skills in practice while also promoting opportunities to work and train abroad, hence improving the transition from academia to the business environment. The bridge that JADE is building between academia and business environment was also further strengthened from a McKinsey & Company study “Education to employment: Getting Europe’s youth into work” p.85.

Additionally, the international events are also the space where JADE’s Executive Board meets with the General Assembly and the committees established during the year. Additionally, one of the four event takes place in Brussels, allowing participants to learn about the EU and the EC’s initiatives to develop a more entrepreneurial Europe from institutional representatives and guests.

Globally, there are more than 1’000 Junior Enterprises and since July 2018, we have become part of the Council Board of the Global Council, the Global Confederation of Junior Enterprises, together with the confederations from Brazil and USA. This global structure promotes the cooperation between more than 50’000 young people in different continents, allowing students to connect between one another and is also the mean through which we can discuss at global level about issues related to young people and students.

We also connect representatives from public institutions and companies with other student NGOs in an event hosted from JADE called Generations Club. This event provides the environment where policy makers, institutions and companies can talk to other student NGOs about up-to-date European issues such as the skills mismatch and challenges in the workplace. Generations Club fosters the empowerment of young people in society by promoting the cooperation between youth workers and policy makers in events representing a cumulative number of 37m youth.
