    Goals / Remit

    To promote the welfare and relieve the suffering of working equines and other animals in Africa, Asia and Central America, and in any other areas outside the United Kingdom that the Trustees may think fit, for the public benefit, in particular, but not exclusively, by:
    • the training and building capacity of local service providers and the strengthening of other animal healthcare facilities to engender positive sustainable change in treatment and care of working animals;
    • the provision, promotion and support of education in the care, welfare and treatment of working equines;
    • advocacy for long term and sustainable improvement of the living and working conditions of working equines;
    • and to relieve the poverty of owners and users of working animals and their communities by improving the health and welfare of such animals.

    - monitor the work of DG SANTE's Animal Health and Welfare Unit particular in relation to global activities.
    - monitor the work of DG DEVCO, DG ECHO, EEAS and DG AGRI
    - monitor EP legislative process in relation to agriculture, animal welfare and international development
    - participate in EU consultations on relevant topics (animal welfare, international development)
    - membership of DG SANTE expert group on animal welfare
