Der Gesamtverband des deutschen Textil- und Modeindustrie e.V. ist der Zusammenschluss von Verbänden der deutschen Textil- und Modeindustrie und von Verbänden verwandter Wirtschaftszweige als deren einheitliche Spitzenorganisation. Er dient der Wahrnehmung, der Förderung und Vertretung der gemeinsamen wirtschafts- und sozialpolitischen Interessen seiner Mitgliedsorganisationen und deren Mitgliedsunternehmen. Der Gesamtverband bekennt sich zu den Prinzipien der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft, zu freiem und fairem Welthandel und zur Nachhaltigkeit im Umgang mit den natürlichen Ressourcen.

Wir haben in Brüssel einen Mitarbeiter, der 100 Prozent auf EU-Ebene arbeitet. Die Kolleginnen und Kollegen am Berliner Sitz des Verbandes verfolgen von dort aus zum Teil ebenfalls EU-Themen und arbeiten unserem Brüsseler Büro zu. Die in Deutschland ansässigen Mitarbeiter und in Einzelfällen auch Mitglieder des Verbandes nehmen anlassbezogen teilweise auch an Sitzungen in Brüssel teil, was aber die Ausnahme darstellt.
