    Goals / Remit

In the increasingly digital world, our organisation helps European startup, scaleups, investors and other actors of the innovation ecosystem navigate complex policy issues. iconomy helps these players understand European and national regulation, define their position and interests and build the necessary partnerships to engage in the related discourse. We often also help establish internal infrastructures and resources for public and regulatory affairs work during organizational growth. Having grown out of the Internet Economy Foundation and it's mission to support the competitiveness of Europe's tech ecosystem, iconomy is especially dedicated to robust legislation that help (re)create fair competition and a level playing field in the digital arena.

    Main EU files targeted

Given iconomy's long advocacy for ambitious platform regulation, especially with focus on establishing a level playing field for Europe's tech ecosystem, we actively engage in discussions, workshops and activities around the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act. In the context of the DMA, iconomy advocates especially for its robust and swift enforcement in the fields of online search engines, app stores and browsers. We and our partners are convinced that especially the DMA's self-preferencing ban (Art. 6.5) has the potential to re-establish fair competition between Gatekeepers and European challengers.

Besides competition policy, iconomy also focuses on other fields related to the digital and tech sector, for example the GDPR, the AI Act as well as other regulatory initiatives targeted at Europe's startup and scaleup ecosystem.
