The ESSA budget comes from membership fees. We estimate that around 20 to 30% of the budget can be directly attributed to interest representation with EU institutions, the other 70 to 80% relating to administrative and operational tasks, networking and advising to members, reporting and other non-lobbying related activities.

Communication activities
ESSA in 2016 elaborated its hygiene guidelines for the production of sprouts and seeds for sprouting in order to ensure the correct application of the legislative package on sprout production enacted in 2013 and 2019. The link to the guideline document: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:52017XX0708(01)&from=EN.
The guidance document must be regularly adapted based on the changing European legislation, e.g. new European Official Controls Regulation which entered into force in December 2019.Other activities
