Goals / Remit
Orkestra, as a line or initiative of the DF, aims to study competitiveness and territorial development from its different research laboratories with objectives:
- Contribute to the improvement of the Basque Country's competitiveness
- Promote the improvement of citizens' wellbeing
- Create knowledge of regional competitiveness
This type of research is defined by analysis, reflection, evaluation and the proposal of actions, in a permanent form, aimed at providing innovative answers for the resolution of the challenges considered, while research knowledge is acquired.
To this end Orkestra, who since its beginnings has been an example of success in public-private cooperation, works with a large number of networks, businesses, governments and institutions on numerous projects. In this way, aside from being an agent of change to drive competitiveness in the Basque Country, it has (...)Main EU files targeted
Orkestra is internationally recognised competitiveness framework for wellbeing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEoAoWGBOjs) , Orkestra carries out a dynamic diagnosis of the Basque Country and identifies its challenges. These are complex challenges, which is why tackling them requires collaboration and commitment by every stakeholder in the territory, including the public administration, businesses, academia, and citizens. For this reason, the institute works closely with the agents who have a direct impact on the challenges of competitiveness and wellbeing in the Basque Country, by designing research agendas and projects jointly with its collaborating entities. We also participate in international projects related to our main research lines with a wide range of partners in other territories and international organizations such as the European Commission and OECD (https://www.orkestra.deusto.es/en/research/research-projects)
This year 2023, the projects related with UE that we have worked in would be:

INVESTIGO (NGUE): A funding call, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan financed by the EU- Next Generation EU. This project was approved by the Board of Directors of Lanbide- Basque Employment Service on 2022.
We have received a granted amount to hire a data engineer in order to implement the Hontza research project as part of its digital transformation process:
Hontza is a project that: 1) Serve as a container for storing all content and data tools - cluster identification tool, regional distribution charts of clusters, and cluster mapping - generated by Orkestra for internal and external use. 2)Improve the flow of information on local, national, and international competitiveness. 3) Promote the replicability of research, enabling "open" research that facilitates faster knowledge generation and the establishment of links with other researchers. 4)Strengthen and add value to knowledge-related activities with data carried out within the Institute. 5)Form the basis of a network of research data repositories among different organizations using our system to create their node.
