Goals / Remit

The European Smoking Tobacco Association (ESTA) was founded in 1990 to represent the interests of the European manufacturers, distributors and importers of fine-cut tobacco, pipe tobacco, traditional nasal snuff tobacco and chewing tobacco and to actively engage with relevant stakeholders.

The 55 members of ESTA include small, medium- and mid sized companies as well as member associations from the European Union Member States and from Norway and Switzerland.

Smoking tobacco comprises approximately 12% of the total sales of tobacco products in the European Union: around 11% for fine-cut tobacco and less than 1% for pipe tobacco.
