Goals / Remit

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) was established in early 2008 as a major philanthropic initiative to build evidence, public understanding and activities which support climate, energy and other policies that greatly reduce Europe’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and to help Europe play an even stronger international leadership role to mitigate climate change.

Issues

- A Framework Strategy for a Resilient Energy Union with a Forward-Looking Climate Change Policy, including; - Clean Energy for All Europeans - Regulation on the governance of the Energy Union - Accelerating Clean Energy Innovation - Internal energy market design - Energy Efficiency, notably the Energy Efficiency Directive, Ecodesign and Energy Labelling Directive and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive - Climate Action, including the Emissions Trading System Directive and Effort-Sharing Decision, international climate negotiations, and Mid-Century Strategy - Research and Innovation - Regulation to define the modalities for reaching the 2020 target to reduce CO 2 emissions from new passenger cars - Industrial Policy Strategy - Circular Economy, including Plastics Strategy
