Glyphosate Renewal Group (GRG)

Registration on EU Transparency Register

720197936300-30 (First registered: 23 Oct 2019)

Goals / Remit

The Glyphosate Renewal Group (GRG) is a collection of companies established in 2019 to seek the renewal of the EU authorisation of the active substance glyphosate in 2022. To this end, its member companies join resources and efforts to prepare a single scientific dossier on the safety of glyphosate. According to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 844/2012, associations of producers have the possibility to submit joint dossiers for the renewal of the authorisation of active substances. Establishing task forces for these purposes is a common practice across different sectors. GRG is not a legal entity and has no legal status nor a head office. The head office’s address indicated is the one of the consultancy providing services to the GRG that fall under the scope of the register. The main service is managing a dedicated GRG website providing information about glyphosate, the authorization process and access to the studies and exchanges with the regulatory authorities.

Issues

GRG is established for the sole purpose of seeking the renewal of the EU approval for the active substance glyphosate via the regulatory process foreseen under Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. While other policies and legislation such as Directive 2009/128/EC on the sustainable use of pesticides and the refit of Regulation (EU) No. 1107/2009 and Regulation (EU) No. 396/2005 are of relevance to GRG member companies and to the debate on glyphosate, the scope of the GRG activity is restricted to the EU regulatory process covering the assessment of glyphosate and does not cover those other files.
