    Goals / Remit

The World Shipping Council (WSC or the Council) is a non-profit trade association representing the liner shipping industry. WSC members carry over 90% of the world’s containerized trade and a substantial share of the world’s roll-on/roll-off cargoes. Through its permanent office in Brussels established in 2007, the World Shipping Council partners with the European Union to improve understanding of the liner shipping industry and to help shape the future growth of a sustainable, safe and secure shipping industry. The office is involved in the development of new regulations to enhance cargo safety and security, the facilitation of legitimate maritime commerce and supply chains, effective liner shipping competition policy and the shipping industry's green fuel transition and progress towards zero emissions. The WSC also has representative offices in Washington D.C. London and Singapore.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
