    Goals / Remit

Utiq is a joint venture created by European telecom leaders Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange SA, Telefónica SA and Vodafone Group Plc for the implementation of a privacy-by-design digital marketing technology platform in Europe that will benefit consumers, advertisers and publishers.
The platform offers consumers an innovative step towards a better control, transparency and protection of their data on the internet.
Utiq offers a platform to support brands and publishers' digital marketing and advertising activities in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. Subject to the user's consent, the joint venture will generate a unique digital code derived from the user's mobile or fixed network subscription. Such code will allow brands and publishers to recognize users on their websites or applications on a pseudonymous basis, group them under different categories and tailor their content to specific users' groups.

    Main EU files targeted

Evolution of the European regulatory framework relating to Advertising Technology (AdTech) companies, in particular:
    - Proposal for a regulation concerning the respect for private life and the protection of personal data in electronic communications (ePrivacy Regulation: 2017/0003 (COD))
    - Initiatives of the European Commission for better implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR: (EU) 2016/679)
    - Forthcoming proposals of the European Commission to phase out internet cookies and improve consumer awareness of online tracking.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
