Goals / Remit
Reduce the monopoly area reserved to postal incumbents by the review or even the abolishment of the Universal Service Obligation in order to make sure that it is not used as a pretext to oppose further market opening, both in traditional postal services as well as in express and package services.
Make sure that the new European Commission understands the key challenges still existing in the EU postal sector and carries out a proper balanced judgment before adopting any new legislative initiative in the sector.
Increase the FFPI profile as a key stakeholder in the debate about the future of the postal sector in order to have the coalition able to act as a genuine counter balance to the lobbying power of the large incumbent operators.
Provide support to FFPI members to issue campaigns and to build a solid network with other key interested stakeholders, at both EU and national levels.Main EU files targeted

- Universal Service Obligation implementation;
- Commission’s roadmap for completing the single market for parcel delivery;

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
