The EMEA Satellite Operators' Assocation (ESOA)
EU Transparency Register
93226026703-84 First registered on 16 Sep 2011
Goals / Remit
ESOA represents the interests of European satellite operators operating over 180 satellites & having a total turnover in excess of 6 billion euros a year – growing steadily since 2002 when the organisation was formed. The combined employment of the members is close to 6000, but satellite operators are the main customers of European manufacturers and launchers who between them, employ a further 30,000 persons across Europe.
The Association today represents the interests of 20 satellite operators and full members' list can be found here: https://www.esoa.net/Members.htm.
These companies deliver a full range of communication services from broadcasting to broadband (digital divide & development); maritime, air, emergency & security communications; telecom and data services used by businesses, government and citizens alike as well as in specific applications such as transport and traffic management or telemedicine. ESOA therefore acts towards policy-makers and regulators to make sure that satellite communications can, through their minimal infrastructure and ubiquitous coverage, deliver vital communication services to people and businesses across the globe. The only requirement for this is the goodwill of policy-makers to recognise the benefits of satcoms and facilitate friendly political, regulatory and industrial environments in their territories, so that satellite communications can be implemented there for the good of their citizens.Main EU files targeted

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
