Goals / Remit
Surfrider Europe is a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to protect the ocean, the coastline, all aquatic environments & their users. Created in 1990 by a group of surfers who wanted to preserve their playground, it now gathers a community of Ocean lovers. Grass-roots activism is at the core of our NGO. We have over 13,000 members and are active across 12 countries through 45+ volunteer-run branches. For 30+ years, we have developed impactful programmes in 3 areas: marine litter, water quality and public health, coastal management and climate change. We take action to drastically reduce plastic waste, move away from fossil fuels, fight against climate change and its impacts, and stop marine pollution and the damage to the ocean and coasts through advocacy, campaigns, awareness-raising, events & local actions. Surfrider Europe is a member of the Surfrider international network active in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Morocco, Senegal & the USA. Visit www.surfrider.eu

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
