    Goals / Remit

At Signum Global we produce predictive research on political developments. We also host events with policy-makers in the US, the EU and the UK to better understand geopolitical developments.

We are research and insights providers. Signum Global does not represent its clients to EU institutions, nor does it act as an intermediary for clients seeking to affect EU policy, legislation nor the implementation of legislation. Signum therefore represents its own interests as an advisor and researcher.

    Main EU files targeted

We are interested in the key areas of EU policy-making that relate to current affairs and set the geopolitical agenda of the day.

Specifically in regards of competition and industrial policy, we are interested in the Net Zero Industry Act, the use of REPowerEU and the EU Chips Act, among others, and also what these policies mean for the EU's relationships with the US and China. Relatedly, we are keen to understand better the EU's de-risking agenda towards China and how the Critical Raw Materials Act will relate to that. The political, economic and financial implications of the implementation of the reporting phase of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism are of interest, as well as potential outcomes from the Letta and Draghi reports into the single market and EU competitiveness, respectively (particularly around any progress on a capital markets union).

Negotiations over two other key reforms this year are of interest - the finalisation of the EU AI act and a final compromise on the Platform Work Directive.

Beyond these policies, we seek to understand how the war in Ukraine and the upcoming US presidential election could change political priorities in the EU and what it means for the bloc's 'strategic autonomy' and defence industry.

    Meetings

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
