    Goals / Remit

The Romanian Association of Banks (RAB) is one of the strongest professional associations in Romania which represents the entire banking market - made up of 33 banks active as Romanian or foreign legal persons in the financial sector - and which expanded by including other 12 affiliate members, non-bank companies, thus setting the foundation of a partnership with the intention of contributing to the consolidation of a predictable, transparent and reliable business environment in Romania. The priorities of the banking industry are related to maintaining the banking sector’s role as main financier of Romania’s economy while assuring the stability and credibility of the banking sector.

    Main EU files targeted

As main EU legislative proposals or policies, the most important for the Romanian Association of Banks are Consumer Credit Directive (CCD), Mortgage Credit Directive (MCD), NPL, Sustainable finance agenda, Digital finance incl. DORA, CMU, AI Regulation, EIDAS, CRD, CRR, AMLD, PSD, PRIIPS.
Of main interest is the Banking package, mainly the applicability of art. 500a of the Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 (so-called CRR quick fix) and of the article 468 of CRR extension in regard to the temporary treatment of unrealized gains and losses measured at fair value through other comprehensive income.
The Romanian Association of Banks is interested in all the initiatives and activities related to Banking Regulation and Supervision and we organize meetings with the authorities on related subjects.
