    Goals / Remit

The Dutch Elasmobranch Society was founded in 2010, its goal is to improve the knowledge we have about sharks and rays to facilitate better managament of the populations of these fish and were necesarry protect them. The focus of the organisation is on sharks and rays living in Dutch waters and in waters fished by Dutch fishermen.

    Main EU files targeted

Our main focus is on fisheries policy within the EU and between EU and 3rd countries

We follow the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) specifically where it relates to the annual TAC setting through the TAC and quota regulation, article 15 and 16 of the CFP (landing obligation) and in the relation of teh CFP to Marine Strategy Framework Directive (descriptor 1 and 3)

In international policy we work on the anual EU-UK-Norway agreement on fish catches, EU engagement in regional fisheries organisations (RFMOS's like ICCAT, WECAFC, OSPAR and NEAFC) and contacts with the EU's outermost regions in the Caribbean

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
