    Il MEDAC è un'associazione senza scopo di lucro che persegue un obiettivo di interesse europeo generale, con sede legale a Roma, Italia.
    Il MEDAC è composto da organizzazioni europee e nazionali rappresentanti il settore della pesca (sia flotta industriale, sia piccola pesca artigianale, che il settore della trasformazione ed i sindacati) ed altri gruppi di interesse (tra cui organizzazioni ambientaliste, associazioni di consumatori e associazioni di pesca sportiva/ricreativa) nell’ambito della PCP operanti nell’area del Mediterraneo, formato dalle acque marittime del Mediterraneo situate a est del meridiano 5°36’ di longitudine ovest.

    Il ruolo del MEDAC è quello di predisporre non solo pareri sulla gestione della pesca e sugli aspetti socioeconomici relativi alla conservazione della pesca nel Mediterraneo, indirizzati agli Stati Membri e alle istituzioni europee, per contribuire alla realizzazione degli obiettivi della PCP, ma anche fornire soluzioni tecniche e suggerimenti, tra cui raccomandazioni congiunte (ex. Art. 18 Reg.1380/2013) su richiesta degli Stati membri.
