Goals / Remit
The Memorial is an institution deeply rooted to the history of the Holocaust and WWII; it dates back to 1943 when the "Contemporary Centre of Jewish Documentation" was founded to collect documents and evidence on the persecutions of European Jews.
Today the Memorial’s main mission is to transmit memory to raise awareness among Europeans on its shared history, educate against hatred and fight against radicalization. It aims to preserve the memory of the Holocaust as a common European and universal living legacy.
The Memorial is a European reference institution and offers a range of public resources and services: documentation centre, museum, educational activities, professional training, international symposiums, etc. Since 2014, the Memorial has been working with the French Ministry of Justice on awareness raising activities for citizens convicted of hate speech and racist acts and has increased its external actions notably developing activities within schools unable to travel (...)Main EU files targeted
