    Communication activities

YHO’s activities target their member organizations, their members, trainers, youth workers and subsequently young people aged mostly from 15 to 29, which are targeted by network's member
organizations. The outcomes of the projects are public and so far they have published several manuals and materials that can be used by a broad spectre of individuals (and organizations),
who are interested in the field of alcohol related harm prevention. Through the development of effective alcohol policies, in cooperation with young people, they aim to improve the quality of their lives and also of the general public. Since its establishment in 2011 YHO carried out several trainings and conferences (4 European Alcohol Policy Youth Conferences and 2 Regional European Alcohol Policy Youth Conferences), as well as advocacy projects (Triangle and Triangle 2.0) and capacity building projects (3-year long Let it hAPYN project, which was concluded in June 2016). YHO’s past activities that were carried out by, for, and with young people are four European Alcohol Policy Youth Conferences (Slovenia – 2012 and 2016, Turkey 2014, Lithuania 2018), two Regional European Alcohol Policy Youth Conferences (Moldova 2013, Lithuania 2016), several National Consultations and Stakeholders’ Meetings and Mystery Shopping Projects. YHO participated as coordinator of Towards Slovenian and Lithuanian Youth Manifesto on Alcohol funded by the Erasmus+ Programme. YHO cooperated with Slovenian Ministry of Health and European Alcohol Policy Alliance (Eurocare) in organizing the 7th European Alcohol Policy Conference, which took place in Ljubljana in November 2016. In 2017 YHO co-organized the Intersectoral Workshop on Cooperation for the Preparation of Comprehensive Alcohol Policies in South-Eastern Europe in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Republic of Slovenia, WHO – Regional Office for Europe, South-Eastern European Health Network and the Institute of Public Health of Slovenia. In 2019 the YHO organized the 1st European NCD Youth Conferences, which was co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme, the Slovenian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization Country Office in Slovenia.
YHO (APYN) was a member of the European Alcohol and Health Forum until 2015, when several NGOs left the forum. Representatives of YHO attended a consultation for the European Alcohol Forum in Luxembourg in June 2018 and we have agreed to rejoin the forum, however, our membership is currently hibernating.
Currently, YHO is involved as a partner in the F.Y.F.A. project (Focus on Youth, Football and Alcohol), coordinated by Eurocare and funded by the Health Programme of the European Commission.
Until the end of 2021 YHO will carry out the 3rd Regional European Alcohol Policy Youth Conference in Dublin in cooperation with Youth Work Ireland. YHO also applied as a partner in the following projects: Stay Well, a Strategic Partnership project led by the University of Applied Sciences from Vilnius, and You4Health!, which is also a Strategic Partnership project led by the Catholic University of Milan. YHO applied as coordinator of two projects - health promotion among young people and within youth organizations and youth participation in health policy making related to food systems, which are planned to be carried out in 2023.
