Goals / Remit
ISCA is a democratic, non-governmental and not-for-profit umbrella association with 41 European member organisations and 128 member organisations world-wide. It was established in 1995 and has experienced sustained growth in membership and in turnover to a level of 2 million Euros annually.
ISCA’s tag line is MOVING PEOPLE. This means we are delivering capacity building and promoting cross-sector collaboration to ultimately increase citizens’ involvement in sport and physical activity.
Or, as stated in the ISCA statutes, ISCA aims to
1. Promote an understanding between people across borders through sports and cultural activities;
2. Stress the view of sport as a bearer of local, regional or national cultural identity and so placing it in the centre of international exchanges of ideas, views and social and cultural expressions;
3. Encourage the broadest possible participation in sporting and cultural activities among all affiliated members.
As an international umbrella organisation for sport for all, ISCA has been at the forefront of development and implementation of activities of specific European relevance. This can be seen by our long presence as a reliable partner and financial beneficiary of European Commission co-funded activities, for example:
• ISCA has successfully implemented projects from the Preparatory Actions in the field of sport including the SANTE (completed in 2011) EuroVolNet (completed in 2012) and Good Governance in Grassroots Sport (GGGS – completed in 2013) projects. ISCA has recently completed the ACTIVE Network project in 2014 with support from the same source.
• ISCA was the first European and international sport for all umbrella association to receive a community grant from DG SANCO for health promotion through a sports project (PATHE). PATHE has been followed-up by the DG SANCO supported project ‘Physical Activity Promotion Forum – The MOVE Project’ (2011-2014).
• ISCA was the first sport organisation to receive structural support from the Youth Programme (2000-2006).
• ISCA received a large-scale youth grant for its comprehensive youth leader education programme (which led to the establishment of ISCA’s regular European Youth and Sport Forum - EYSF).
• ISCA has successfully delivered two projects with support from the Europe for Citizens Programme, and numerous EVS and Youth in Action Projects, including two large scale multi-measure projects.
As an international umbrella, ISCA further has the capacity to exploit results of the project directly via its membership, which counts 41 members in Europe. This platform provided a strong base for not only sustainability and roll-out of results in project partner organisations, but also in a substantial subsequent dissemination and exploitation.
All of ISCA’s projects aim to promote innovative approaches and strengthen the capacity of grassroots sport in Europe. The NowWeMove Campaign and MOVE Week is the latest and prime example of ISCA’s ongoing efforts in this field.Main EU files targeted

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
