    Ifpi är den organisation som representerar skivbolagen i Sverige och i övriga världen. Förenklat kan man säga att Ifpi Sverige är skivbolagens upphovsrättsorganisation samt intresseorganisation.
    Som upphovsrättsorganisation inkasserar Ifpi Sverige ersättning när musik spelas i exempelvis radio, tv och på Internet och fördelar därefter den inkasserade ersättningen till de skivbolag som äger inspelningsrättigheterna.

    Som intresseorganisation har Ifpi Sverige uppdraget att kontinuerligt se till så att skivbolagen har ett starkt rättsligt skydd, både på nationell och EU-nivå, och att det rättsliga skyddet följer den snabba tekniska utvecklingen.
