    Goals / Remit

ICMP is the world trade association representing the interests of the music publishing industry.

ICMP represents the rights behind approximately 90% of the world's music. This spans more than 100 million tracks, of more than 5,000 genres – including Beethoven to Beyoncé, Schubert to Ed Sheeran, NWA to BTS, folk to Fado, techno to hip-hop.

The members of ICMP are 64 different national music publishers’ associations from across 6 continents. Direct members include 100s of 'Indie' music companies as well as the 3 'Majors'.

Our sector makes multi-million dollar annual investment in the creation of the world's music, and then licenses it to audiences of billions. It does so across all usage formats. For example digital (streaming, social media, virtual reality etc.), TV, radio, cinema, physical (e.g. vinyl and CD), live, print and more.

ICMP's mission is to create the optimum environment for the world’s music to thrive and to defend the rights behind the world’s repertoire.

    Main EU files targeted

ICMP is active in copyright protection, international trade, IP, Internet and digital issues, and consumer affairs.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
