EU Representation and Monitoring
Support and advice is given in creating an EU presence and in aiming to achieve an optimal position with respect to the EU institutions and organisations. This includes staff training in the field of EU Lobbying. We also offer to carry out representational duties in Brussels, and are prepared to provide the necessary infrastructure.
Monitoring is the continuous observation and research of developments, decisions, topics and programmes which are relevant for an organization or company. This includes providing and processing information and documents, as well as identifying communication channels and organizational structures. Through identifying relevant topics and issues at an early stage, the continuous monitoring system provides the ability to serve as an early-warning system.
Political and business intelligence is an integral part of our activities. We offer an informed, value-added and tailored service. The business intelligence gained is invaluable, helping to guide business strategies, shape key messages and deliver the quantitative and qualitative measures that our clients value
We rely on integrated EU Lobbying, which means that the three most important EU institutions - the Parliament, the Commission and the Council - get drawn into the strategic planning. This also includes the national perspective of each member state whose interests are represented by the Council.
Networking is the support given in the establishment of contacts to the decision makers in politics, media and civil society. In addition, advice is given on the expansion and maintenance of individual contact networks.
Studies and Analysis
Studies and analysis in the area of European affairs and corporate strategy are made either thematically, problem-orientated or according to the decision process, fitted to the given situation. The aim is to generate suitable knowledge which can be utilized accordingly.
Every economic and political process in any country in the Region is clearly inextricable from the enlargement dynamics of the European Union overall. Four primary steps are now under observation by all affected parties:
■ Privileged relationship with EU neighbours
■ Preparation for the membership
■ Accession period
■ Post-Accession period
Strategy consulting
Strategy consulting provides an analysis of the relevant framework conditions, players and vested interests within the political field. The aim is to outline the decision range and derive various decision options. In order to implement a possible decision alternative it is important to have a good level of communication and coordination with relevant partners and contacts.
Investor relations - the art of communicating with existing and potential owners - have become an important task for every management group. Consistency and a long-term perspective are essential elements in communicating with financial markets.
The following are the main groups of financial advisory offered by ECS-BRUSSELS:
■ Advisory related to project finance / public private partnership (PPP) projects.
■ Advisory related to financial and operational restructuring.
■ Advisory related to capital market issues.
■ M&A advisory.
■ Market analysis (covering Region).
■ Private equity / assistance with deal sourcing.

Studies and analysis in the area of European affairs and corporate strategy:
On the Road towards the EU
The articles included in this book, written between 2003 and the middle of 2011, together with the commentaries and analyses, suggest that the results of negotiations and harmonization to a large extent stem from serious failures and omissions of the relevant institutions of the Republic of Croatia. These failures have not yet been punished in the Croatian political arena, which is yet another indicator that Croatian democracy is still suffering from teething trouble.
Unfortunately, the proof of this hypothesis will be seen only in the first few years after Croatia's accession to the European Union.
The visible proof will consist of difficulties that will be felt even by those sectors of the economy and those groups of citizens that should, by any logic, and judging by the experience of previous rounds of EU enlargement, profit most from EU accession.
For example, the Croatian agricultural sector and its farmers will not absorb most of the available financial resources from EU funds in the early years of Croatia's membership of the EU. Due to its lack of competitiveness, the Croatian processing industry will not benefit from the opportunity of operating in the European Union's market, and it will have to face an offensive from its competitors and a new redistribution of market shares not only in Croatia, but also in other countries within CEFTA, in which the Croatian economy is currently well positioned.
Other candidate countries and potential candidate countries from the neighbouring region can draw lessons from the Croatian experience.- Meetings

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
