    EU Transparency Register

    32591134448-30 First registered on 31 Oct 2010

    Goals / Remit

ePURE represents the interests of European renewable ethanol producers to the EU institutions, industry stakeholders, the media, academia and the general public.

Based in Brussels, ePURE speaks for 39 member companies and associations (including 21 producers), with around 50 plants in 16 EU Member States and the UK, accounting for about 85% of EU renewable ethanol production.

Our mission is to promote the use of renewable ethanol in Europe by contributing in a constructive and proactive manner to the development and implementation of EU policies and legislation that empower our industry to deliver economic and societal benefits. We pursue this by providing expert advice and input to the EU institutions, Member State governments, Brussels-based stakeholders and wider society.

    Main EU files targeted

The Association shall achieve its general purpose through such activities as:

    - Collection of information concerning commercial production and marketing of ethanol from public and industry sources and the coordination and dissemination of such information to Association members, public authorities, media, NGOs and the public.

    - To monitor existing and future legislation which impacts on the industry producing ethanol from biomass, and dissemination of such information to Association members, government authorities and the general public.

    - Definition of the main issues at European Union level concerning those who are involved in the production, marketing and use of ethanol from biomass.

    - The formulation of Association opinions and positions relating to European Union and other policies and programmes affecting the production, distribution and use of ethanol from biomass and the presentation of such opinions and positions as appropriate to the European Institutions, national public authorities, other interest groups and the public at large.

    - The study of all issues of interest to the European ethanol from biomass industry in the widest possible sense, in particular those of a scientific, technical and institutional nature.

    - Educational activities in the public interest concerning: the production, distribution and use of ethanol produced from biomass; the development of a viable and competitive European ethanol from biomass industry; and the contribution that ethanol from biomass makes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, to improving European energy security and to the development of rural areas.

    - The promotion of research and development to improve the sustainability and efficiency of European ethanol produced from biomass, and its applications.

    - Maintaining contact with other associations and interest groups promoting ethanol produced from biomass.

    - Maintaining contact with other associations and interest groups that are principal stakeholders of ethanol produced from biomass.

    - Seeking recognition by organisations that are relevant to its general purpose.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
