    Goals / Remit

EUROMETREC, the European Metal Trade and Recycling Federation is located in Brussels, Belgium and was created in 1990 from the Liaison Committee for non-ferrous metals trade within the E.E.C, which was itself formed in 1969.

EUROMETREC members are national associations in the EU Member States representing the interests of companies that are primarily involved in the collection, processing, recycling and trade of non-ferrous metal scrap. In the E.U. member states, more than a thousand large companies and SMEs are represented through EUROMETREC.

    EUROMETREC's main objectives are:
    - To establish a permanent liaison between the accredited representatives of the national member associations and the European institutions (the Commission, Parliament and Council etc.,) and with organisations inside or outside the EU.
    - To maintain a link between the national member associations of the EU Member States, in strict observance of relevant legal requirements.
    - To ensure the proper representation of the member associations and of the non-ferrous metal recycling and trade industry in order to promote non-ferrous metals recycling, encourage free and fair trade as well as the use of secondary non-ferrous metals and improve business opportunities for the industry.
    - To study and examine all legal, environmental, economic and technical aspects of the processing, recycling, transport and trading of non-ferrous metals by the member associations and their affiliated firms in the EU.
    - To gather, exchange and disseminate all information relevant to these objectives, in strict observance of relevant legal requirements.

EUROMETREC's particular objective is to give the sector the place it deserves in all future European Community environmental protection and recycling programmes. It reflects the opinion of the EU non-ferrous recycling industry in its Position Papers and provides expert inputs on any E.U. policy and regulatory initiative which could have an impact on the non-ferrous recycling sector.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
