    - encourage European and international policy makers and regulators to support the creation of new and diverse music;
    - support the principle and development of authors’ rights, copyright and fair remuneration and defend the collective management of authors’ rights;
    - improve inclusiveness and diversity, including the conditions and advancement of women composers and songwriters in the music industry;
    - support policies for a more sustainable music sector and measures to reduce the environmental impact of music industry practices;
    - support fair conditions for all composers and songwriters and encourage the adoption of “codes of conduct” of conduct” to ensure social and economic development of music creation in Europe.

    Main EU files targeted

    Main EU initiatives followed by ECSA are developments on authors' rights/copyright as well as policy related to culture and more specifically music sector related policy. ECSA remains active in stakeholder consultations and professional meetings organized by the European Commission (DG Connect, DG EAC) and in the European Parliament (CULT, JURI and IMCO parliamentary committees). ECSA has been very much involved on the EU 2019 DSM Directive and on all discussions for the fair remuneration for creators.

    The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

    1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
