Goals / Remit
The European Branded Clothing Association (EBCA) is a coalition of European retail clothing brands. Between us we represent around 60 brands and employ over 160,000 people in our European operations.
The Association provides the first collective and exclusive voice for retail clothing brands in Europe. Drawing upon a balanced and representative membership present in a range of EU member states, EBCA seeks to serve as a sounding-board for EU policy-makers as they develop trade policy that seeks to balance the interests of all Europeans in an increasingly global environment.
EBCA showcases the contribution of clothing retailers to European competitiveness and employment, and seeks to ensure a more predictable business environment, a positive trade agenda, and a better deal for European consumers.Main EU files targeted
As a coalition of European retail clothing brands with both a European and global presence, EBCA’s main activities focus on ensuring an open trade agenda and fair market access at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
As a consequence, the subject matter of EBCA’s outreach efforts consists of the following:
• Free, fair and sustainable trade;
• Ambitious yet feasible due diligence and sustainable corporate governance frameworks;
• Robust trade agreements with third countries;
• Simplified Rules of Origin during the negotiation of free trade agreements;
• A well-functioning multilateral trading system;
• Market access for European companies in third countries;
• Trade facilitation through the harmonization of customs procedures in each member state, including the UK post-Brexit;
• Effective protection of intellectual property rules;
• An efficient, equitable and user-friendly customs-valuation system.Address

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
