Goals / Remit
- Protection des producteurs et des méthodes alimentaires locales et traditionnelles ;
- Sauvegarde des traditions culinaires des Etats membres d’Europe Centrale et Orientale ;
- Promotion de l’alimentation saine et de la passion pour la gastronomie et la cuisine parmi les nouvelles générations à travers l’éducation des enfants ;
Top European chefs association Euro-toques International has re-grouped and expanded, and continues the fight to promote food quality and protect culinary heritage in the European Member States.
Established in 1986 by the top European Chefs at the time from Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland and the Netherlands, over its 25 year history, Euro-toques – the European Community of Cooks – has expanded to encompass many more countries and has recently accepted memberships from some of the newly joined EU Member States, including Bulgaria, Romania and Poland. The founding purpose of the association was to defend the culinary traditions of each of the Member States, to protect the quality of food available in Europe and to ensure that chefs would continue to be able to source local and artisan ingredients. The organisation was recognised by then EC President Jacques Delors as an official commentator on food quality issues to the EC.
Some of the main issues of concern to Euro-toques, and which they plan to work on over the coming year are the:
- Protection of Traditional and Artisan food producers and traditional production methods ;
- Safeguard of culinary traditions from Central and Eastern Europe countries ;
- Promotion of healthy eating and passion for food and cooking amongst the next generation by educating children ;
- Defense of endangered species, such as bluefin tuna.Main EU files targeted
