Goals / Remit
ECPAT Belgium is the Belgian official member of ECPAT International. Our mission is to eradicate the sexual exploitation of children.
PREVENT
Through regular preventive actions with professionals such as tourism professionals, lawyers, guardians, our awareness actions highlight the realities of child sexual exploitation in order to stop abuses.
LISTEN
Our cornerstone is to position children and youth victims at the centre of our movement. Making their voices heard in our studies, strategic choices and actions is essential to stay connected and attentive to their needs.
MOBILIZE
The fight against the sexual exploitation of children must be carried out together. Therefore, ECPAT Belgium mobilizes its partners and civil society as a whole to protect children.Main EU files targeted

Communication activities
- I say STOP campaign
In order to inform travelers and tourism professionals on child sexual exploitation, ECPAT Belgium has been coordinating the campaign I say STOP! since 2004. This campaign aims at mobilizing all actors on the issue of child sexual exploitation in travel and tourism, especially on the importance of reporting suspicious situations.
I say STOP! is an initiative of the STOP Group. The Group gathers institutional actors (Foreign Affairs, Federal Police, Defense, Justice), private actors (Federation of the Tourism Industry and FEBETRA) and NGOs (Samilia Foundation, ECPAT Belgium).
- ReACT project
Through the ReACT project (Reinforcing Assistance to Child victims of Trafficking), ECPAT Belgium trains professionals in the field to detect cases of exploitation among the minors they support. In this context, interactive training courses based on concrete cases have been developed for guardians and lawyers. In addition, tools (videos and leaflets) have been created specifically by and for unaccompanied foreign minors in a clear and accessible language, so they can inform other young people of their rights in Belgium.
- CAPISCE project
The aim of the project is to strengthen protection of child victims of trafficking during legal proceedings. Through research, ECPAT Belgium will analyse existing mechanisms in this field in order to identify good practices and improvements that will be necessary for the juridical system to respond more adequately to the needs of the victims.
A training module for interpreters will also be created. It will cover different aspects such as legislation, psychological approach, ethical bases so that these professionals can actively integrate and respect children’s rights into their practice.
- Déclic
Born from the observation that a youngster in difficulty more often asks another youngster for help, (De)clic wants to give children and teenagers sufficient tools so that everyone knows how to protect themselves from risks and can advise others. (De)clic has already been implemented with several partners such as schools and centres for unaccompanied foreign minors for example. ECPAT Belgium uses an interactive methodology to train young people by combining fun and participatory activities to ensure maximum involvement. The trained young people can, in turn, create tools to carry the message to other young people.Other activities
