Goals / Remit
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a charity with the mission to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The Charity’s communication efforts and insight and analysis are applied across four key areas:
● Business
● Systemic Initiatives
● Institutions, Governments & Cities
● Learning
The Charity aims to have inspired global action at scale and to have created unstoppable momentum towards a circular economy: an economy based on the principles of designing out pollution and waste, keeping products and materials in use and regenerating natural systems. It is an economy that is regenerative by design, distributed, diverse, inclusive and underpinned by renewable materials and renewable energy.Main EU files targeted
As a NGO regulated by the UK charity commission, the Foundation does not represent sectorial or industrial interests, and interacts with EU institutions as provider of economic analysis, case studies and insights on the specific topic of circular economy - for which the Foundation is the globally leading reference point. In the context of the EU's Circular Economy Action Plan from March 2020, the Foundation regularly meets with various DG's of the European Commission, and participates in discussions and events organised by the European Parliament. In 2024, the Foundation plans to engage on a few key EU policy initiatives including the EU Textile Strategy, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, and the revision of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive. The Foundation also supports the Global Alliance on Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy (GACERE) which was initiated by the European Commission, UNEP and UNIDO in February 2021.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
