Goals / Remit
From 2016, the EL*C - EuroCentralAsian Lesbian* Community set out to be a network aimed at making lesbian, bisexual, trans and intersex women and non-binary persons (hereinafter LBTI women and non-binary persons) visible, strengthening their participation in decision making spheres, and increasing their access to human rights, social justice, economic justice and wellbeing, while influencing relevant policies on the national, European
and international level, from the perspective of needs and interests of LBTIQ women and non-binary persons. As such, EL*C strives to be a representative, powerful and visible voice of movements of LBTIQ women and non-binary persons in Europe and Central Asia, and has implemented numerous activities in the areas of movement building, networking, advocacy and policy, visibility and public campaigning, research and grant-making.Main EU files targeted

The grants CERV-2023-OG-SGA and CERV-2023-DAPHNE have been received in December 2023, therefore in the closed financial year. However, the funds refers to activities to be conducted in 2024 and they could be used only starting from January 2024, therefore in the current financial year.
We have included CERV-2023-DAPHNE in the question concerning EU grants contributing to operating costs as the guideline are not clear on the meaning of "operating costs". However this project is an action grant and as such does not contribute to operating costs (e.g. salaries). -

Communication activities
EL*C has been conducted several activities in the past years that are relevant for the EU policies above.
This includes the events:
- in the European Parliament organised in collaboration with the EP Intergroup on LGBTIQ rights and with offices of MEPs to mark International Lesbian Visibility Day and the international day on combating violence against women (April 2018, April 2020, April 2022, November 2023, April 2024)
- participation with speakers to Conferences organised by German Presidency to the EU Council “Intersectionality and LGBTI Policies in Europe: Lived Realities of Lesbian* Women and the Recognition of Rainbow Families" in November 2020 and to the High-level conference on LGBTI Rights organised by the Swedish Presidency to the EU Council in 2023 and a High-level conference organised by the Belgian Presidency to the EU Council in 2024.
- an event featuring MEPs and Commissioner Dalli for the launch of EL*C research on the COVID-19 impact on lesbian community in June 2021
- a European Lesbian Conference in 2022 with the participation of representatives from the European Commission and an event in 2024 on the occasion of the European elections with the participation of EC representatives
