Goals / Remit
Our organization's agenda is to promote, advocate and develop partnerships with centralized governments and agencies to ensure that the appropriate techniques and safeguards are implemented within its social structures to establish a degree of civility and a restoration of protective measures for the Roma/ni. It is within these safeguard parameters that our organization intends to push for state, local, agencies and governments to develop practical frameworks that uphold a credence in its values towards marginalized individuals that are ostracized, chastised, and discriminated against as well as deprived from any form of social justice.

In the absence of any specific provision in European law, no right may be claimed by a state under European law to limit the collectively exercised human right to self-determination of individuals belonging to a European people without a state within the EU. EU citizenship rights and, more general, the political rights of Europeans are recognized and protected by European law. These include freedom of expression (Art. 10 ECHR) and freedom of assembly and association (Art. 11 ECHR), which gave rise to interesting case law. Both these freedoms may be, according to the ECHR, limited by state authorities, however, “no restrictions shall be placed on the exercise of these rights other than such as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security or public safety, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others” (Art. 11 § 2 ECHR).
Therefore, as noted above, the European Union has the capacity to recognize the “Roma Nation” or form of Self-Government as an International Organization, enter into a treaty with said organization which would give semi-autonomy and allow Roma to self-govern themselves under the principle of Internal Self-Determination as noted above, within the EU borders and elsewhere.
Self-determination denotes the legal right of people to decide their own destiny in the international order. Self-determination is a core principle of international law, arising from customary international law, but also recognized as a general principle of law, and enshrined in a number of international treaties. For instance, self-determination is protected in the United Nations Charter and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights as a right of “all peoples.”
With all due respect to the commission and civil society organizations participating in this framework, we have been through this in the past and have identified the reasons past similar initiatives have failed.
We represent the actual Roma, which comprises five large groups: Roma, Sinti, Kale or Cale, Manouches and Romanichals or Romaniche.Address

The World Roma Federation exists to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. We advocate for the freedom, dignity and well-being of the Roma people and all Europeans. We acknowledge and respect their right to self-determination. Our aim is to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. It is our belief that the role of the EU is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their quality of life and autonomy.”
