    Goals / Remit

    Formerly known as WSPA, World Animal Protection has protected animals in working to expose animal cruelty and prevent animal suffering around the globe for more than 30 years. World Animal Protection (formerly WSPA) uses its skills and knowledge to move individuals, organisations and governments to transform animal's lives.

    Working in more than 50 countries, World Animal Protection creates positive change by exposing cruelty and pioneering sustainable solutions to animal suffering. With its Consultative Status with the United Nations, allows World Animal Protection (formerly WSPA) to have a unique international platform to prove that the lives of animals are inextricably linked to human wellbeing.

    Main EU files targeted

    - Monitor work of DG Sante Animal Welfare Unit with relation to implementation of EU Animal Welfare Strategy 2012-2015.
    - Follow TTIP negotiations by EU Commission (DG Trade) and European Parliament Committee Hearings.
    - Monitor EP ordinary legislative procedures of relevance to animal welfare e.g. draft Animal Health Bill, Invasive Alien Species Act, as well as ensuing tripartite negotiations.
    - Monitor European Parliament consideration of Post-2015 Global Development Agenda and engage with relevant Commission DGs e.g. DEV, ENVI.
    - Engage with EU Commission (ECHO) on Disaster Risk Reduction related issues.
    - Participate in EU Commission public consultations e.g. strengthened action plan on wildlife crime.
