Goals / Remit
Association of European Journalists is an independent NGO, founded in 1962 in San Remo (Italy), brings together individual journalists (through their membership of national sections in countries that are members of the Council of Europe):
1 - who are convinced of the need for European integration on a democratic basis and
2 - who are determined to defend the Freedom of the Press and of Information
The AEJ is an independent non-profit-making international organisation with neither party-political nor union-ties.
MEDIA FREEDOM is one of the main subjects for the AEJ.Main EU files targeted

AEJ is an organisation of volunteers, organised in financial independent national sections, with partner organisations and rep's in other countries.
The national sections pay a part of their membership fee to the int. organisation. And organise/finance their own activities.
Annuel General Assemblies and Executive Committee meetings are organised by one of the sections. Delegates pay personally a fee for their participation. -
