    Goals / Remit

The Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is a leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues.

Our mission is to inspire and inform policy and practice which lead to the reduction of poverty, the alleviation of suffering and the achievement of sustainable livelihoods in developing countries.

We do this by locking together high quality applied research, practical policy advice, and policy-focused dissemination and debate.

We work with partners in the public and private sectors, in both developing and developed countries.

    Main EU files targeted

ODI engages with the EU institutions on a variety of topics and through numerous channels. We produce research reports, discussion papers, briefings and opinion pieces; we convene events attended by EU staff or exclusively for EU staff; we prepare submissions during consultations; we apply for funding from EU institutions; and we actively engage with EU staff to share the findings of our research to contribute to policy change.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.

1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
