Goals / Remit
The Centre Condorcet is a think tank which aims to stimulate Enlightenment core values of reason and humanism, inspired by one of its most innovative thinkers, Nicolas de Condorcet.
The principal common project in Europe today, the European Union, may be in need of deep conceptual and operational innovation. The mantra that there are no alternative trajectories for managing common interests cannot be taken at face value. Many leading political and social scientists and economists have remarked that its dominant political and economic paradigms jeopardize the necessary social compromises in its societies. The fundamental consensus forged in the 1950s is fragmenting, a new one does not seem in the making. Indicative are the deepening inequalities within countries and between them, threats to the essence of democracy and civic rights, uncontrolled technological advances, neo-nationalism and eurocentrism, and alienation of large groups of citizens. https://www.highlevelgroup.eu/Main EU files targeted
The Centre Condorcet focusses on public-private-academic sector dialogues and on studies with an emphasis on systemic change, foresight and innovation. They do not concern specific EU policy proposals, draft regulations or directives, but broader, multi-disciplinary areas of work, such as financing transition to sustainability, new parameters for trade or neighbourhood policy, financing of green tech investments, the context of a future partnership with Africa, or new science and systemic change in agriculture or forestry, or other strategic matters in future. Its work is mainly an operational transformation of research by universities or other think tanks which is tested in meetings with invited participants and summarized in its reports. The Centre Condorcet has been set up to provide a legal basis for such groups which until now operated on an ad hoc basis.

The list below only covers meetings held since November 2014 with commissioners, their cabinet members or directors-general at the European Commission; other lobby meetings with lower-level staff may have taken place, but the European Commission doesn't proactively publish information about these meetings. For more information about which commissioner is responsible for which portfolio, check out this link: https://commissioners.ec.europa.eu/index_en All information below comes from European Commission web pages.
1 July 2024: We have noted that some meetings are appearing in duplicate, ie. some meetings seem to be listed twice. This seems to be because the Commission changes some element of a meeting data after the meeting has first been listed, which causes LobbyFacts to register it as a new meeting. We are investigating further.
